The Women’s Leadership Program at UONGOZI Institute is open to African women leaders in all fields. Participants in this six-month program are assisted in addressing the particular obstacles that stand in the way of women professionals rising to senior leadership positions.

Research Scholarships
The fully funded scholarships awarded to program participants will cover all program fees, books, travel expenses, meals and refreshments during in-person sessions, and membership at the UONGOZI Institute’s Resource Centre.

ADMISSION
No reapplication is required for applicants who were placed on the wait list in 2023; they will be given automatic consideration for admission. The hired candidates will make up the program’s fifth and sixth cohorts. Beginning in October 2024, the program will take place.

DELIVERY APPROACH
Hybrid: In-person and virtual.

PROGRAMME REQUIREMENTS
The Women’s Leadership Forum (WLF), training, coaching, and mentoring are the four components of the program.

Leaders from industry and politics come together through the WLF to discuss ideas and best practices related to advancing women’s participation in leadership positions.

The focus of training is on improving participants’ capacity to lead others, control their inner selves, and use resources. It consists of four modules that are taught over the course of six days.
Training is followed by coaching and mentoring sessions, which are designed to hasten personal development. Five and a half months is the length of time. One to four days a month are anticipated to be spent on this.

Participants must attend all sessions in full, turn in graded assignments, and complete all program requirements in order to graduate.

How to apply

Requirements for admission are:
(i) The candidate’s Curriculum Vitae (not to exceed three pages);
(ii) A letter from the employer confirming the applicant’s full participation in the program; (iii) A motivational statement (450–500 words) outlining the candidate’s leadership accomplishments, difficulties, and reasons for applying to the program.
Selection criteria consist of:
(i) A minimum of five years of experience in supervisory, managerial, or leadership roles; (ii) A minimum of seven years of work experience;
(ii) (iii) A minimum bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
